Disclaimer: I don't use any RDBMS with SA. In fact I don't use either
MySQL or MariaDB. PostgreSQL is my preferred RDBMS.

I have had pretty much 100% drop-in replacement experience with mysql vs mariadb. I can't see any reason mysql's db formats wouldn't follow the same pattern!
