Eh, if I'm researching an odd bug, for instance, and find a 2-year old post from someone who had the same problem but don't see any resolution posted, I'll probably ping the OP offlist with a "Hey, did you ever find the fix for that problem $FOO you were having?" since I can't assume they're still subscribed to the list.
