When you say email, I presume you mean spam.

The few invitations spams I've received have all hit BAYES_50 or
greater, despite my learning a lot of ham with linkedin.com URIs - I'm
doubtful that's the sole explanation.

Have you tried learning LinkedIn spam as spam? You may not be able to
get it to BAYES_99, but it should be possible to get it to BAYES_50.
