Bingo, that's the clue I needed. Thank you very much. Sorry it didn't dawn on me to read the .cf file carefully first. I was fixated on the *rule* firing improperly and trying to figure out how to adjust *it*. Thanks for all the other advice, too, including qmailqueue setups.
