I tried the high MX for some time, but in my experience, spammers usually only hit the first two MXes. So if you were using the high and low MX, you should imho have no reasonable benefit, because the second-lowest MX would be real, thus buying you no relief, and the third (or higher) MX will only get little traffic, thus also not contributing much to your relief.
