Do they really write "date:" instead of "Date:"? That violates RFC 2822. A space after : is shown in every example in 2822, but I don't see a requirement that it be there. It is extremely unusual not to see it. The two-digit year is obs-year, and "MUST NOT be used" to generate messages, but "MUST be honored" "when interpreting messages". Hm.
