One of the ways technology can help is by increasing the cost of spam. SA has already done that by making it harder for spammers to "hide in plain sight". But its job is made artificially harder by the need to accept very broken messages that provide plenty of dark crevices for spam to hide in. If we get rid of some of those cracks, we don't need quite so bright a light to reveal the cockroaches.
