I have seen no evidence of that (that = "it helps"). and yes, I asked:
this debate came in here a long time ago. feedback I've got here, in
other lists and in private mail showed no benefits of spf users with
regard to backscatter.

I know that SPF is a cause of long debates. so I won't say more about it.

My BS volume varies, without any SPF related changes.
