It's a type of wheat. Also the past tense of spell, if you're British.
(Sort of like "learnt", which is in the SA docs.)
But of the British it takes a Harry Potter to spell correctly.
(I know he's Canadian. But if carried too far British spelling
smells, or in the past tense is fishy, smelt.)
