It is not nonsense. It is common logic. Business processes are being optimized, spammers also strife to optimize the usage of their resources. Bouncing messages are messages not delivered and get noticed, resulting in bot's being discovered and cleaned. PS. It is also a bit 'dumb' to conclude this from a months sample, before the information trickles through to the address lists, it takes months I would assume.
