No. sa-update tries to update it after a week so you pick-up new servers and spread the load, but the old one will probably still be usable for years. The only time it matters is after a SpamAssassin version change when a new versioned directory is created to hold the rules. Even then you could just copy over the old MIRRORED.BY file if the server is down.
