This comes up a lot, and a lot of people already responded, but I wanted to add one more comment. Think of it simply as: After every rule is run, increment score count. Next, check score count against a TOP_SCORE value. Do this for every rule? Just don't see the cpu cycles saved, unless you halted before you ran something like 1/4 of the rules.
