can i add the following line to local.cf for sitewide effect?

score ALL_TRUSTED -1.8

i ask because ive tried this already and it is still coming through as the default -2.8

SA checks the rule files first then uses local.cf as an overiding authority isnt that right?

That should work, unless there's another score statement in user_prefs.

Check the following things:

1) always run spamassassin --lint to check for errors. You'd not belive how many "scroe" lines I've made by accident.

2) if you use spamd, you must restart it after editing local.cf. Spamd only parses the major .cf files when it starts up for efficiency. Only user_prefs is parsed per-message.

3) make sure you got the right local.cf. run spamassassin -D --lint and look where your "site rules dir" is. Make sure local.cf is there.
