Hmmm, I know we've not touched the 3.XX version in any form because it could have an adverse affect on the Ensim package the way it structures mailhandling and sites... But we also have the matching system to yours, but without the CPU usage problem. Now let me mention this: We DO have constant spikes from spamd and MailScanner that top out at 90-95% CPU, but they are only for a second or two. Ensim's reporting and straight MRTG will tell you this is running high constantly, but we've determined that the MailScanner MRTG package samples differently and gets a more accurate reading overall. If I believed MRTG, we'd be running 125% constantly. MS-MRTG, we're running solidly at about 35% average. So if you're depending on stats like that, you could be misled by the results. On the spamd 'sticking', it's strange that we're not seeing the same problems you are? It's possible we've loaded other packages not in the Ensim bundle that are helping to quiet spamd and ensure it's not on a runaway, but I've watched top & tail and only seen the MS applet really spiking every so often. spamd's up there, but not at the levels you're seeing. Have you added any other packages or software like MRTG, Mailman, MailWatch, etc., just to compare notes? How did you get to 4.0.1 FC1, from 3.5.XX straight up or did you do the in-box to 3.7.XX and then jump to 4.0.1? Or was there a 4.0.0 in there allowed to run for awhile before jumping to 4.0.1? Might help determine why our boxes are running without the CPU issues... David J.
