i have a setup with two solr indices containing records for a vufind instance.

the leader acts as harvester and collects records/documents from various sources.

the follower just replicates the leader and serves as index for our search engine.

this setup seemed to have worked very stable for several years, but since we updated our vufind instances - hence our solr instances, we are getting a strange behavour:

about weekly the follower seems to overtake the leader somehow. just today i found the leader empty and claiming being one generation ahead of the leader.

i do not understand how this happens.

the only workaround to fix this i found so far is deleting the follower index from the harddrive and restart solr. the follower then has gen 1 again and feels ready to replicate.

i added a screenshot of the replication status page of the follower in the state of refusing replication and having zero documents.

in the mail from 04/02/2025, 11:32 i sent you parts of my solr/vufind/biblio/conf/solrconfig.xml of leader and follower.
