Hi all, I wanted to bring to the notice of the larger user community a discussion about removing the HDFS support for Solr in 10x. I started a DEV list thread in December bringing up the question: https://lists.apache.org/thread/hp6bov79rgrg0gb2ozzbzxxn30k2js0h. The HDFS tests in Solr 10 have been broken for a long time, and in our survey of the community last fall we didn't receive feedback that folks are using the capability.
I'm going to quote David Smiley as I think he put it best: The best outcome for Solr's HDFS module is that someone / business that uses it helps out to ensure it's maintained. We should probably remove the module until/unless that happens, if it ever does. If someone's looking into these failures to help out, please make your voice heard!Please do speak up on the dev mailing list if you are interested in supporting the HDFS module in Solr 10 going forward.
