Happy Friday! I'm reaching out to the user list to get some input from the community on the future of the Hadoop Auth module in Solr[1]. Some reasons for rethinking the role of this module in Solr are: 1) In the recent Community Survey, when we asked for who uses which modules, the Hadoop Auth module did not get any votes, which suggests that it is no longer widely used. 2) We have had obstacles to updating various Solr dependencies due to the slow pace of Hadoop upgrades.3) Currently no active committers or contributors for issues related to Hadoop Auth module.
A thread was started on the Dev mailing list about potentially removing it from Solr in 10x, and some paths forward[2]. Before we do this, I wanted to hear from the community on what the impact would be of removing it in 10x. Are you currently a user of this module and planning on migrating to Solr 10x? I'd love to hear from you, either on this thread or the dev list thread.
