FYI Solr will soon be publishing metrics in the Prometheus format natively (i.e. without the "exporter" process). No, it is not the exporter embedded. On one hand it's more convenient and highly efficient. On the other hand, it is not nearly so flexible. The Prometheus Exporter isn't necessarily going away... we'll see what happens as time goes on.
