The Solr PMC is pleased to announce the release of Apache Solr 8.9.0.

Solr is the popular, blazing fast, open source NoSQL search platform from
the Apache Lucene project. Its major features include powerful full-text
search, hit highlighting, faceted search, dynamic clustering, database
integration, rich document handling, and geospatial search. Solr is highly
scalable, providing fault tolerant distributed search and indexing, and
powers the search and navigation features of many of the world's largest
internet sites.

### Solr 8.9.0 Release Highlights:

* Backup/Restore: Support for incremental backups, support for storing
backups in Google Cloud Storage (GCS), ability to restore on top of an
existing collection. Improved v2 API. Please see CHANGES.txt for details.

* Monitoring: New "Solr Cluster" row in Grafana dashboard, improved

* Deprecations: The Metrics history feature has been deprecated and will be

vulnerabilities (SOLR-15316)
