Benefit:
You get a lot less tables in your database.
This speeds up your backup and restore times, when you have a lot of users.

Drawback:
You can not use V2 SOGo Webinterface on the same database.

Yes, it is preserved in database.
You can check and delete the ActiveSync State with "sogo-tool
manage-eas" on the commandline of the server.
