I never tried using SOGo with gmail, but as SOGo supports the IMAP protocol (and does not come with an own bundled IMAP Server) it may work. You have to configure the IMAP server within /etc/sogo/sogo.conf (very well documentated). I am not shure how SOGo will handle server based rules and out-of-office replies in this szenario.
I am not quite sure what you want to archive. Gmail already has contact and calendar support. SOGo is primarly meant as an enhancement to pure IMAP server like dovecot so that you have a nice web interface and contact and calendar support (and ActiveSync support). I only know people who have moved from Gmail to SOGo. If you worry to set up an own email server (postfix, dovecot) you could try hosted.mailcow.email. They offer SOGo. Besides there is a download version of mailcow with which you can set up an own server quite easily. Andreas Am Fr, 25.
