[...] It gets mentioned every once in a while, but this is a general problem with centos init scripts and/or most init scripts in general, they are mostly written to assume a single instance of the service. The solution is simply to run as little as possible on the host, and to fix the scripts for the stuff you need to run. Painful, but unavoidable.
