While it would be great to have more co-operation between TDF and the ASF, it
would need to negotiated while understanding the non-negotiable details. The
ASF is a US 501(c3) public charity producing software for the public good. This
limits what the foundation can and cannot do.

1) Microsoft owns the registered trademark of “Office”, “Apache Office” is not
a product we can produce.
2) Nothing from The ASF prevents TDF contributors from contributing to
OpenOffice. We treat all as individuals and require contributions under the
ALv2. Contributions are non revokable.
3) Nothing prevents TDF from discussing how we might combine efforts other than
any software which is an Apache branded product has to follow the ASF’s legal,
trademark, and release policies.
4) If the TDF wants to discuss sponsorship of OpenOffice or The ASF there are
foundation officers who handle that.

If someone from the TDF wishes to discuss such co-operation then I invite an
email to priv...@openoffice.apache.org

The Apache OpenOffice is an all volunteer project. If you wanted to work with
our docs volunteers please start a conversation on d...@openoffice.apache.org

Best,
