Try to renew your userprofile.
Close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter (if enabled)

Go to C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice\4
There is a folder called user. Rename that folder to something else, for 
instance "user_old"

Go back and restart OpenOffice. It will make a new folder user.
This method often solves strange problems :-)
