I think you misunderstand. The help tip (in English) for this shape is "Isosceles Triangle" - not "equilateral".
Solo per informazione: la stessa procedura Shift+rettangolo invece funziona bene. Infatti viene disegnato un quadrato, come risulta anche applicando le quote e anche come indicato nella barra di stato.
If you hold down the Shift key as you release the mouse button from the dragging process to create the triangle, what you appear to get is an isosceles triangle inscribed in a square, not an equilateral triangle. The equal sides of such a triangle will have length of half the square root of five - about 1.12 - times the length of the base, which is what you see. I imagine that this is by design: I see no reference to "equilateral" in either the help text or the Draw Guide.
You can adjust the handles of such an isosceles triangle to make it equilateral, of course.
