Save only works when a document has been altered.  If you are getting a message 
that you cannot Save in a particular location, then you do not have rights to 
that folder.  Use the navigation buttons on the /File /Save As entry to 
navigate to your desktop and try to Save a file there (for test purposes).  If 
you can Save there, then the problem is User rights to the original folder in 
which you tried to save.  If you cannot Save there, then probably a reinstall 
of OpenOffice is indicated - a fresh download would be good.
