I should say, however, that I haven't used that in about 15 years and it failed with my/my father's hand-writings, which were and are illegible. If one had a nice disciplined hand I have no doubt that such a program could be reasonably successful. Another possibility, probably with a greater success rate, is voice transcription. With such specialised programs, of either category, it is best to use the as stand alone programs and transfer their output files into the word processor of choice afterwards, which is a simple matter of /Insert /File.
