Hi there,

I am contacting you as advised by Mr McKenna (see Below) during a
discussion about an issue I’m having with Openoffice. I have followed Mr
McKenna’s instructions regarding resetting the profile but I’m still
having no luck – the pathway listed [under Paths Used by Openoffice]
does not actually give the correct location for the program (see
attached capture) – I have been unable to located the program data in
order to reset the profile. It seems very strange to me that the program
itself would identify a pathway that doesn’t exist...

[the original issue was that the English UK dictionary has been
installed but appears to contain no words – when I run spellcheck it
underlines every single word and has to suggestions)

I assume that this is something to do with Windows 10 as I have never
had such an issue before and this is a relatively new laptop with
Windows 10 installed.

If you can give any advice on how to reset the profile in windows 10 or
on any other way to get the spellcheck working I would be extremely
grateful! This request is urgent, I need to be able to spellcheck job
applications to be submitted asap.

Many many thanks!

Hi Keith,

Ive followed the link that you provided to reset the user profile but I

wasn't able to - in fact it started to go wrong here: \Users\<user

name>\AppData\

Roaming\ isn't located inside the AppData folder, i actually have this:

C:\Users\Default.migrated\AppData\Local?? and roaming is located here :

C:\Users\Default.migrated\Roaming - it doesn't contain Openoffice either.

I cant actually find Openoffice in there at all - I'm assuming that this

could have something to do with my problem?

To find the path to your profile do the following

Start OpenOffice

click tools->option

In the left pane of window that opens be sure that the entry OpenOffice is

expanded. If it isn't click the plus sign next to it.

Once it is expanded click paths

The right pane will show a list with the headings type path

The first entry should be AutoCorrect followed by a string.

EXAMPLE

AutoCorrect C:\Users\Keith
McKenna\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice\4\user\autocorr

That string is the path into the OpenOffice profile.

Now open Windows Explorer and navigate through the path until you find the

OpenOffice folder.

From there follow the steps in the original link to reset the profile.

If you are stilling having difficulties resetting the profile. A better
place

to get help would be posting your question either the user mailing list at

mailto:users@openoffice.apache.org or the User Forum at

http://forum.openoffice.org/

Kathrine;

The program itself and the profile are separate. The instructions I gave
you are to find the profile. If you follow the path given in in the
paths section of the preference window it should point you to the
profile folder. Can you type the full path for the Auto Correct entry
from your paths entry. Once we see that we should be able to help you
better with this issue.
