What is the full file name of a file you want to open with Apache OpenOffice? Are you trying to open ODF documents or Microsoft Office Documents? Is it some other kind of document?
If you are attempting to open a Microsoft Office document (e.g., a .doc file) on a Microsoft Windows computer, try this: For the file you want Apache OpenOffice to open for you, find that file using Windows Explorer, so you see it listed in a Windows Explorer list of files for a folder. Right click on the file entry and when a menu opens, choose "Open With" on that list. You will see a list of candidates. If you do not see an OpenOffice candidate (e.g., OpenOffice Writer), click "Choose Another App" (the exact wording may vary depending on the version of Windows you are using). You may have to ask to see more, and then still have to go look directly for the Apache OpenOffice Writer program on your computer. If you do not know how to find the program, ask on us...@openoffice.org, giving more details please. If you succeed, and the document opens correctly, Microsoft Windows will remember your choice and add it to the list of candidates. You can then make that the default by going through the procedure again and choosing that option. Then you won't have to use the Open With any longer for files with that extension (e.g., .doc) at the end of their names. - Dennis > -----Original Message----- > From: Johnny Rosenberg [mailto:gurus.knu...@gmail.com] > Sent: Saturday, January 9, 2016 04:54 > To: users@openoffice.apache.org > Subject: Re: reader problem > > 2016-01-08 5:33 GMT+01:00 scdale <scd...@rtccom.net>: > > > I am exhausted trying to fix a problem. > > I downloaded and installed Open Office 4.1.2.
