My recipe for success in putting an image into Impress: 1. Have the image on the desktop or somewhere on the computer 2. It's easier if you only need the title bar for text, or don't even need that. 3. Use a layout that's title bar only, or if you have another window with 'click to add text' select the edges of that window and delete it. Then click in the empty white space below the title bar. 4. On the OO menubar, select Insert - Picture - From file and navigate to the file and select it. 5. It will get pasted somewhere and somehow. You can drag it and resize using the handles, but I've had bad luck resizing that way when the proportions are not maintained. Safer is: Right click in the image, Position and Size. You get a window with options. You will be using size. Make sure 'maintain ratio' or whatever is checked. Pick an anchor point; the resizing will leave that where it is and move the other 3 corners. Select a width or height and do it. If it's a disaster, use CtrlZ or Cmd Z [depending on your os] to undo and try again, or you can resize again. If you want to tweak the image position, you have more control using Alt-arrow keys than you have with the mouse/pointing device. If you want to add a second image, this works. MAKE SURE THAT THE FIRST IMAGE is no longer selected [i.e. no frame with handles] by clicking somewhere else in the white space.
