Tom,

This is a function of the "Gatekeeper".  To get around this the first time you 
open Open Office "right click" or "cntl-click" on the Open Office icon. This 
will bring up a dialogue box that will give you the option of allowing the 
program to start.  You will be able to open it afterward with a normal double 
click (or single click from the Dashboard) until you down load an update.
