Selling OpenOffice can be done in a legal way but we require some fair behavior of people who do it. See http://www.openoffice.org/distribution/ and if you see people on Ebay who do not follow this policy and do not add the notices we require please ask them that they do so, thanks!

The solution to this is very very simple.

During installation, the package should bring up a banner that says something like:

This is totally free software.
If you paid for it, you have been robbed.
You can download it for free from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/latest/download?source=directory-featured


Also, the banner must not be a script, which can be easily removed from
the package. It should be compiled C or C++ code that cannot be removed
without getting the full source code and removing the message and recompiling
the whole enchilada.
