It works fine for me.
I type the text, then I drag the mouse, with left button pressed, over
the text,
then I click on the icon that looks like ab on yellow background, with
a yellow
tipped pencil next to it, to the right of the pencil is a drop down menu
of colors
to choose from. If I just click on the ab then I get the default yellow
highlighting.
If I click on the down-arrow, then I choose the color for the highlighting.
