Go to C:\Program Files\OpenOffice 4\program and copy the file
soffice.exe and paste on your desktop.

There is a way of putting the Apache Open Office icon onto your desk top but as
it has been many years since I worked with Windo$ and I always preferred a
clean desk top I don't remember how. Perhaps someone who currently uses the OS
could help you more.

Thanks Steve. That worked; however that's still a long way around. It's shorter to go
to a document in a file folder and open it from there. The icon that was saved on my
desktop when I did the upgrade to Apache is a file folder and goes straight to the
folders when I click on it and bypasses the OpenOffice page that has the listings of
everything such as: Text document, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Open, etc. It's the Text
document that I'd like to access more quickly. Before the update, if I clicked on the
icon on my desktop, it would take me right to the "table of contents" page or
whatever it's called.
I'll keep very carefully playing until something triggers what I require.
Thanks for your prompt replies and your help,
Elizabeth

Been a while since I've used Windoz so this is from memory. Click on icon on bottom left of screen, move
pointer up to "Choose program" or "Start program" and click, a list of available programs
should show up, scroll through list until Apache Open Office shows up, click it and the Open Office start
window should open, click on "Writer" and a new document should open.

Hello:
I need help, please and thank you. I just finished installing the Apache
update and I'm able to open and work on my saved files; however, I can't find
how to connect to my OpenOffice word without opening something from one of my
folders. When I do finally get to a blank sheet, it has an annoying
(non-printing) border around the page, which I'd also like to be able to
delete. I need to send some letters and have practically stood on my head
trying to figure out what to do. After checking several sites on line, I
couldn't find anything to address my issue.
I will continue to persevere and will let you know if I do find an answer
before you reply.
Thank you in advance,
ELIZABETH OHRN
