thanks.  for a header, you then need to reduce the header size and or spacing.

In the body of the text, you need to get rid of about 0.4" of leading space in 
the first column.  Haven't found the trick for this yet.

It looks like you can also do this for a line or group of lines using columns 
and applying the column properties to the selected text rather than the page; 
that avoids the above mentioned problem of the leading space.
