If you are using a Lexmark (and sometimes Dell, rebranded Lexmark) printer a
problem attaches to some of their drivers. This problem arises from improperly
written drivers and shows up only on some programs (OpenOffice in particular).
It was dealt with in this Microsoft note
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918730
While this refers to a particular program the fix seems to work in general.

If you cannot understand what you refer to as jargon on the Forum, you should
return with a query. Using computers needs technical language; because the
advice is given on a pro bono basis, we tend to be as succinct as possible to
minimise the time we devote to that service; it is not our function to assist
with general understanding of the use of computers. But if needs must, we will
expand on our advice.
