Printing

I have, up until today, been able to write letters and print them using 
Open Office. I wrote a letter today and printed it. Some of the letter 
printed, but not all of it. A message came on the computer screen 
suggesting that I download a program. There was a cost involved. My 
question is: Do I now have to pay for a program to print Open Office? If 
not, what do I need to do to get the document to print which I typed in 
Open Office?
