My bad on this one. Turns out the package didn't actually get installed - Muon Software Center in Kubuntu didn't give me any errors, but kept the package in the uninstall state. When I dropped down to the command-line to check it out I discovered it was conflicting with the LO stuff that hadn't gotten cleaned out. So I removed the rest of the LO stuff (apt-get remove libreoffice*) and viola it installs and is now working. > Please be aware that this effects main KDE/mime_type/application menu > integration only and not TOTAL KDE integration, e.g. kmail, etc. At this point, that's all I ask, and I now have that. :-) I know further integration would require development work to be done. May be one day I'll have the time to do so myself.
