My bad on this one.
Turns out the package didn't actually get installed - Muon Software Center in 
Kubuntu didn't give me any errors, but kept the package in the uninstall state.
When I dropped down to the command-line to check it out I discovered it was 
conflicting with the LO stuff that hadn't gotten cleaned out.
So I removed the rest of the LO stuff (apt-get remove libreoffice*) and viola 
it installs and is now working.

At this point, that's all I ask, and I now have that. :-)

I know further integration would require development work to be done.
May be one day I'll have the time to do so myself.
