Doing "Source > Inspect > SingleInspection > Browse" and in "Search" enter "unused" then "Unused Element" is listed under "Probable Bugs". This should correspond to the hint you mention.
You can also get to it with Source > Inspect > Configuration > Default > Manage... > NetBeans Java Hints"
