Netbeans' color scheme, but light and dark (but mostly dark) could really use a revisit. There are moments where colors contrast is very bad making it very hard to read the text (e.g. dark foreground on dark background or light foreground on light background). I know this must be difficult because there are many color combinations but I have begun filing bug reports against these already. Once bug reports are filed, who is going to take charge of the overall UI direction? I mean, this will need someone to take a wholistic approach as opposed to splitting the work across multiple committers.

Although it doesn’t have to support dark theme by ‘default’, but it’s necessary to provide it as one of basic options.

I wouldn’t agree that it’s necessary, however. NetBeans does provide the Norway Today (IIRC) theme which is dark. For the IDE chrome the Dracula theme [1] provides this capability.
