Yes, that was what I did. I hoped directory-single would help me in
my multi-module
project. When I use the assembly plugin in the pre-integration-test
phase of a submodule
a new lifecycle is created and is kill my buid.

If you're referring to the statement "Current Assembly Plugin Version
is: 2.2" in the plugin docs [1], it is a mistake.
The latest released version is 2.1.
