I think Carlos used it to create a custom plugin (maven-grafo-plugin) to render the files. I don't see this plugin available somewhere so it must be one of Carlos private experiments :) It shouldn't be hard to modify the plugin or to write a new one to generate your pictures. So first, read that: http://prefuse.org/doc/manual/intro/ Then perhaps you can reuse the Display public method that returns a BufferedImage: public BufferedImage getOffscreenBuffer(); And here's a code example to save your image to PNG: http://javaalmanac.com/egs/javax.imageio/Graphic2File.html Good luck!
