Unfortunately mvn help:describe -Dpluginname doesn't work for many plugins
as it has not been implemented for a lot of plugins (especially some of
the more standard ones like install and compile!!)

I get a null pointer exception when I run it for those two. Being
relatively new to the whole Maven project, I find it somewhat difficult to
find good resources online from which to start learning. This mailing list
has been a huge boon though and the developer community is quite strong,
but a good start really would be to go through the maven website with a
fine-toothed comb so that people are not googling for hours to find
answers.

By the way, I own Maven: A Developer's Notebook and I am impressed with
your work.

Regards,

-j

Unfortunately you'll not find this. Ant is about tasks. Maven is about
high
level build actions. It's the same as comparing language primitives vs
higher level libraries.

Maven2 is a whole different concept. I suggest that you start by reading
the
documentation on the maven web site and then read the Maven2 book which
will
be officially out in a few days.

I also have several presentations on http://massol.net/ (left menu).

There's mvn help:describe -Dplugin=xxx

Hope it helps,

-Vincent
