filtering of MANIFEST.MF?

Dear Maven Users,

I've so far discovered how to merge in my own manifest file entries:
  <plugin>
    <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
    <artifactId>maven-jar-plugin</artifactId>
    <configuration>
      <archive>
        <manifestFile>src/main/resources/META-INF/MANIFEST.MF</ 
manifestFile>

My question now is, how can I filter this? (substitute the value of  
each ${property})

I tried adding the following, but it doesn't appear to work:

  <build>
    <resources>
      <resource>
        <directory>src/main/resources</directory>
        <filtering>true</filtering>
      </resource>
    </resources>
  </build>

Any ideas?
