Hi John,

I do not think you need a special Windows build, just unpack the ZIP or tar.gz 
from 
https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/apache/maven/apache-maven/4.0.0-alpha-3/.

Please see my previous post 
(https://lists.apache.org/thread/g40p4ytdlnczpo3bwvht1thhg9l0d566), Maven 4 
behaves sometimes differently.
