I can see that there are closed issues related to this problem (MARMOTTA-234 and MARMOTTA-224) with comments saying that the bug is observed only in case of Tomcat < 7.0.30, but I see this with Tomcat 7.0.42.
Those issues are not really related with yours. It was a much simpler bug. But your are right, in principle it could be related.
