Seriously I did it selfishly, I prefer to keep things in package managed
system in the package manager. I've managed repositories of custom
compiled and packaged stuff for previous employers, so it wasn't such a
stretch to make a compliant package that could be accepted by the main
Debian group. Finding a sponsor was the hard part - there are dozens of
RFS (Request For Sponsor) bugs out there, some of them very old, and
becoming a DD is not an easy process.

So do I, but I keep on doing things. When I get the time I will put
together some new packages for Jessie and Sid, and host them with the
source packages in my own repository.
