Additionally to maintain a hardware redundancy I have two instances of
policyd in separated servers acceding to the same data base.

In order to maintain the connectivity with both from postfix I use a Perl
script (policyc.pl) of way similar to which spamc with spamd does of
SpamAssassin.

Only the number of children spawned by policyd, depends on the
complexity of rules you have.
