After a reboot and a new setting of the variables I could compile. Is there a
way to set the variables for all the sessions?
The only one that is set after reboot is PATH, because I modified the file

        /etc/profile

I added new files to

        /etc/ld.so.conf.d
, that contains the right lib paths, but it seems that LD_LIBRARY_PATH is
always empty. I have to manually set it.
MPI_HOME is also empty, after reboot.

Thanks a lot,
Andreea

The mpi.h file is also in the installation dir. It is in the include directory
of your installation.
I think that it is a path problem...
