Jeff, We have some users that have noticed the files and they made the comment that at other locations where they ran OpenMPI they didn't see these files. So, in their mind, OpenMPI was not installed correctly. Thanks, Pat

This is just how OMPI works; we make these temp dirs for job-local storage and temporary stuff (E.g., shared memory mmap files).
